Hey,

Let me tell you about an incident that occurred during the first wave of COVID. Since I am a transporter I was moving goods from one state to another. Unknown to me, the movement of all non-essential goods and services was stopped as a precaution. In this confusion, my E Way bill expired. I was looking for ways on

how to extend e way bill validity after expiry date.

Validity :

For standard cargo, the validity of e way bill is for 24 hours, sketching up to 200 Kms. After that, one day will be added for every 200 km. If over-dimensional cargo is being transported then e way validity for a day is up to 20 km. Let me tell you, that the eway bill can only be extended eight hours after the original expiry period. You can also extend the validity eight hours before the validity period has lapsed.

E way bill can be extended if transportation has been interrupted due to :

• Exceptional circ*mstances like a natural calamity like earthquake, tsunami, or flood.

• If there are any law and order issues, eg road bandh.

• If there are any trans-shipment delays.

• If the truck has been in an accident and is unable to reach the consigned location

• National holiday like Republic Day, Independence Day etc.

• You can easily extend the validity of the eway bill. You just need to use the extension facility given online.
